These days we are all so busy that we have forgotten the art of relaxation. Every minute must be used ‘usefully’ and any empty space in the diary is quickly filled with another appointment. We hardly know what it means to do nothing, to not be ‘productive’.

The result is that not only adults, but even children aged eight and younger, suffer from chronic stress and increasingly end up with burnout. There is almost no room left for relaxation, and when there is, we usually no longer know how to calm our nervous system because we have become accustomed to the fast pace and even addicted to the adrenaline rush of every stress peak. We live so much in our heads and on “automatic pilot” to keep up with the merry-go-round of our hectic society that we have lost touch with our bodies and our nature.

Time for change. In this keynote, I want to give you practical tools and nutritional tips to bring more peace into your daily life and help your body switch from flight-or-flight stress mode to a more relaxed state. It's not about eliminating all stress from your life, that would be unrealistic. It's about rediscovering how to switch more smoothly between your ‘sympathetic nervous system’—the part of your nervous system that makes you alert and helps you perform at work—and your ‘parasympathetic nervous system,’ the part of your nervous system responsible for recovery and rest.

In this keynote, you will discover the basics of our nervous system and why it plays such a crucial role in our stress management, with a host of practical tools and exercises that help you get out of stress mode and into relaxation mode.

During the lecture, you will also discover how nutrition can help you reduce stress, increase your energy levels, and produce more happiness hormones. I will also tell you how you can boost your immunity, reduce cravings for sweets, and improve your sleep quality without having to completely change your lifestyle—it's easier than you might think.
