Cleansing Cucumber Carrot Juice

Drinks

Would you love to adopt a new healthy habit and start your day with a large glass of green juice to detoxify your body, have more energy throughout the day and get a flatter belly? This Cleansing Cucumber Carrot Juice is perfect for anyone who isn’t accustomed to the strong taste of leafy greens yet but who still wants the same cleansing effect. It is super hydrating and slightly sweet thanks to the carrots. Plus: it has a magic detox ingredient that gives it a deep yellow color… Curcumin!

Curcumin, often called “the queen of spices”, has very powerful health benefits: it will deeply cleanse your liver, boost your immune system & metabolism, reduce inflammation and help your body to prevent healthy cells from turning into cancer cells. Curcumin has a strong, slightly bitter taste, so you don’t need much. Are you ready to make this detox elixir? Let’s get juicy!

Cleansing Cucumber Carrot Juice

SERVES: 1 person (1 large glass)

EQUIPMENT: juicer OR blender + nut milk bag / cheesecloth

INGREDIENTS:

2 handfuls of chards
3 large sweet carrots
1 small cucumber
½ small lemon
1 tablespoon of ginger
1/8 teaspoon of turmeric powder

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Add chards, carrots, cucumber, lemon and ginger to the juicer. Pour into a glass.
  2. Add the turmeric powder and stir well with a spoon.

JULIE’S TIPS & TRICKS:

  • Do you prefer a sweeter juice to uplift the strong and slightly bitter flavor of the turmeric? Just add one red apple, ripe pear or sweet orange to this recipe.

Hi Jim, chard is a type of leafy greens. You can replace it with any other greens of your choice!

Hi Peter, I can't give you any medical advice but research has shown that green juices (no fruit, just greens) and celery juice in particular can be really helpful.

Can i mix radish in carrot and cuxcumber and drink this kind of juice everyday?

Hi Mary, if you digest radish well, you can certainly add it to the juice. I love using radish greens too, as a variation to chard. As long as you use enough variety and rotate your leafy greens (not chard/spinach/kale every day) you can definitely have this vegetable juice every day. Straight up celery juice on an empty stomach works wonders too!

Can you mix moringa with turmeric and cucumber? How could it taste better?

Judith Amido wrote Reply
Julie Van den Kerchove
Hi Judith, yes you can mix moringa in this juice. The easiest way to make it taste better is to add more sweetness, for example by adding extra carrot juice.

Can I add honey as a sweetner to my juice?

Julie Van den Kerchove
You can add a spoonful of raw honey if you wish but know that it will make this juice very high in sugar content. You could also add extra carrots or apple/pear to add sweetness & extra vitamins.
