Looking for an easy back-to-school smoothie recipe that can be transformed into a protein rich pre-workout shake by adding only one extra ingredient? This Raspberry Red Bush Smoothie is highly addictive – no, really! It tastes like melted raspberry cheesecake filling… So creamy and sweet ☺ Red bush tea makes a great addition to smoothies and shakes. It is extremely cleansing and incredibly high in minerals such as iron, calcium and magnesium. The perfect base for an energizing smoothie!

Raspberry Red Bush Smoothie

SERVES: 1 person

EQUIPMENT: blender

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup of green red bush tea, chilled
1 cup of raspberries, fresh or frozen
2 bananas, fresh or frozen
1 teaspoon of fresh ginger
1 tablespoon of hemp seeds (optional: for extra protein & omega 3 fatty acids)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Combine chilled red bush tea, raspberries, banana, hemp seeds and ginger in the blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Garnish with dried coconut, hemp seeds and raspberries.

JULIE’S TIPS & TRICKS:

  • This Raspberry Red Bush Smoothie will stay fresh for at least 1 day in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator.
  • Not so fond of raspberries? Replace them with any berry you like!
  • Want to increase the nutrient content of this smoothie? Add a large handful of spinach or other leafy greens of your choice.
  • Don’t have any hemp seeds at home? Replace them with chia seeds or your favorite vegan protein powder.
