Have you ever tried dipping a banana in maca powder and raw vegan chocolate sauce? Maca, cacao and banana are one of my favorite flavor combinations! If you are under a lot of stress or if you are just low in energy in general, maca powder is a great addition to your smoothies and shakes, like this Energizing Chocolate Banana Maca Shake. Maca has a delicious flavor, a creamy texture and it is really high in minerals.
Energizing Chocolate Banana Maca Shake
SERVES: 2 cups
1 cup of water
2 small ripe bananas, fresh or frozen
3 small dates, pitted and finely chopped
2 tablespoons of cashews
1 ½ tablespoon of unsweetened cacao
½ tablespoon of hemp seeds (optional)
1 ½ teaspoon of carob powder
1 teaspoon of maca powder
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 large pinch of Himalayan crystal salt or sea salt
- Combine water, banana, dates, cashews, cacao, hemp seeds, carob powder, maca powder, vanilla extract and salt in the blender. Blend until smooth.
- Garnish with hemp seeds, maca powder and cacao nibs.
JULIE’S TIPS & TRICKS:
- This Energizing Chocolate Banana Maca Shake will stay fresh for at least 2 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Do keep in mind that it will lose some of its flavor and nutrient content.
- Don’t like carob powder? Replace it with cacao and a few extra dates.
